[ARCHIVED] Planning Board approves mixed-use development at 1 Railroad Ave.

On August 22, 2023 the Bedford Planning Board concluded its public hearing on a mixed-use development at 1 Railroad Avenue in the Depot area. It voted unanimously to approve the special permit, subject to conditions. The development comprises a 3-story building with 18 residential apartments on 2 floors above parking, with small commercial spaces fronting Railroad Avenue, and a smaller 1-story retail building that could potentially be a restaurant. There will be additional parking between the buildings and on-street. The project also includes a small public park next to the street. The vegetated wetland area at the rear of the lot will remain. Landscape planting is proposed in the form of street trees next to a new sidewalk along the Railroad Avenue frontage and mixed plantings near the South Road end of the building where existing trees on the property line will need to be cut. Details there are subject to a Tree Warden hearing. Plans and application materials for the development can be viewed here.
