[ARCHIVED] Work Begins on Great Road Improvement Project

The Town’s contractor, J. Tropeano Inc., will begin work this month on the Great Road Improvement Project. The first phase of construction will focus on installing a new underground stormwater infiltration system beneath Veterans Memorial Park. This system will increase drainage capacity along Great Road and within the Elmbrook watershed, while also managing stormwater runoff from the new Fire Station at 139 Great Road. Veterans Memorial Park will be fully restored to its existing condition following construction. Beginning in early summer, work will transition to roadway improvements. The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with activation of the new Fire Station emergency signal and the Hillside Avenue/Bacon Road/Great Road traffic signal.

Work will take place between 7AM and 5PM Monday through Friday. There will be periods of one-lane alternating traffic, which will be restricted to the extent possible between the hours of 9am and 3pm to minimize traffic disruptions.
