[ARCHIVED] DPW Launches "Recycle Coach" Tool

Bedford, MA – October 1, 2025 — Bedford DPW is excited to announce that the popular Waste Wizard tool has officially been upgraded and rebranded as Recycle Coach! While the design may be new, residents can expect the same trusted functionality—now with an enhanced user experience and additional features to better meet the community’s needs.

The Recycle Coach software is a “what goes where” tool at its core and it’s available just in time for the hectic fall and holiday season. You can use the search bar on the desktop site — or even snap a photo using the new mobile app feature — for 24/7 disposal help.

Wait... that goes where

In addition, curbside bulky item and white goods scheduling now features integrated payment processing — no more leaving the website to submit payment. Schedule pick up and pay collection fees all in one place.

One of the most requested updates—push notifications—is now available through the new optional Recycle Coach mobile app, offering residents an alternative to email reminders. This change directly responds to feedback from our recent trash and recycling communication survey, where a strong majority of residents indicated a preference for push notifications or text messages.

Current email subscribers will begin to see weekly reminders in a new format beginning with curbside collection for the week of October 13th. Reminder emails will be sent by Recycle Coach from no-reply@recycle-coach.com. Not currently receiving reminders? Sign up at www.bedfordma.gov/recycling or by downloading the Recycle Coach app from your App Store.

The Recycle Coach tool is accessible on the Town's Trash & Recycling subpage, the app is not required. Just visit www.bedfordma.gov/recycling to interact with the Recycle Coach widget—your one-stop shop for all things trash and recycling.

Recycle Coach features include:

    •    Interactive collection calendar

    •    Schedule collection day reminders

    •    Schedule curbside pickups for bulky and white goods

    •    Report missed collections or requesting cart repairs

    •    Use the “How Do I…” search tool to get disposal tips for over 400 unique item types and 15,000 synonyms.

Whether you're at home or on the go, Recycle Coach makes it easier than ever to manage your waste and recycling. Download the optional app or continue using the website—whichever works best for you!
