1. Where can I find more information about Special Recycling Events?

Our next special collection event will be held in May 2023. Event details will be sent by regular postal mail and posted on the Events page. 

2. Where can I find information about Hazardous Waste Collection events?

3. I have too much trash. What can I do?

Here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Compost your food waste. Low-cost backyard compost bins are available at the DPW. Residents can also sign up for curbside organics pick-up with Black Earth Compost.
2. Make sure you recycle everything you can. Visit Recycle Smart MA for recycling guidelines.
3. Donate items that are in usable condition to organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or Big Brother/Big Sister. Use the Waste Wizard tool to search for an organization nearby.
4. Official Overflow Bags are available for sale at Moison's Ace Hardware, Whole Foods, and Stop and Shop. The cost is $10 for a roll of five bags.
5. If you seem to dispose of excess trash on a regular basis you can also fill out a second cart application using our Online Permitting System. The cost is $185 per year, plus a one-time $75 administration fee with each new application.

4. How do I schedule a bulky item pick up?

Mattresses and box springs are scheduled to visit the UTEC Mattress Recycling website. This is a free service for residents served by the municipal trash program. 

Other bulky items can be scheduled with Republic Services at 800-442-9006. Fees may apply view the Fees Bulk (PDF). Please note that construction materials (such as toilets, sinks, etc.), a wood waste (including pallets) are prohibited from the municipal trash program. Residents should contact a private hauler or utilize a dumpster bag.

5. Why was my cart moved? It was put down in a different place from where I put it out.

If your cart was too close to any obstacles the driver would have moved it before the automated arm could lift and empty the cart. Please place the cart at least 3 feet from all obstacles, such as mail boxes, trees or recycle bins. Try putting the recycling near your mailbox and the refuse cart on the other side of the driveway.

6. I have a two family home / a duplex, why didn't I get two free carts?

We will need to verify that your property is a legal multi-family home per the Town's Assessor's department. Call the DPW at 781-275-7605 and we can talk you through the process of obtaining a second cart

7. My trash/recycling cart is dirty/damaged/broken. Can I request a replacement?

A dirty cart is easily cleaned with soap and hot water or with a pressure washer. Contact the DPW at 781-275-7605 if your cart is broken or damaged.

8. Do I need a resident sticker to access the Compost & Recycling Center?

Yes. Resident stickers are free and can be requested at the DPW, 314 Great Road, during business hours. Proof of residency is required in the form of vehicle registration and driver's license or utility bill.

9. When is Yard Waste collected?

Yard Waste is collected curbside on one date in the Spring and three dates in the Fall, with one additional collection in January for Christmas Tree collection. Spring Yard Waste pick up will be held on Monday April 24, 2023.

Residents are encouraged to bring yard waste material to the Compost & Recycling Center, 108 Carlisle Rd. Visit the Compost & Recycling Center page for current schedule and acceptable items list.
