COA Services
The COA offers an abundance of classes and other small services listed below including, but not limited to:
- Medical Equipment: Do you need medical equipment? The Council on Aging and the Board of Health have various items of donated medical equipment available for loan. Call the COA at 781-275-6825 or the BOH at 781-275-6507 to see if we have items available for loan and to arrange a pick-up time.
- Both the COA and BOH also accept medical equipment donations as well. If you have something in new or like-new condition and would like to donate, the COA and BOH accept the following equipment:
- COA accepts: wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, and canes.
- BOH accepts: bath seats, commodes and raised toilet seats.
- Note: Please call ahead before dropping off equipment as we have limited storage area. Do not leave items outside the building at any time.
- Both the COA and BOH also accept medical equipment donations as well. If you have something in new or like-new condition and would like to donate, the COA and BOH accept the following equipment:
- Computer Drop-In: Do you need access to a computer or printer? Come work independently in our computer lab anytime between 9 am to 3 pm. Monday through Friday or Saturdays from 10 am-3 pm!
- Computer Help: Need computer help or tech support? Kai to the rescue! Kai Holland will be at the COA on Saturdays from 10 am to noon to assist any senior having issues or questions with technology.
- Get answers by email! - Bedford residents can simply email Todd Crowley, COA Volunteer, to receive answers to computer questions
- Fix It Shop: Watch battery replacement, small appliance repairs, lamp rewiring and more, for the cost of parts, and a minimal charge for labor, donations welcome. (Shop hours - Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9 am to noon)
- Podiatry: We are working with Local Podiatrist, Dr. Ayleen Gregorian DPM-FACPM in her Bedford Office. She honors the same rate for routine nail care services as they would be at the COA clinics. The fee is $40 payable by cash or check. Call her office at 978-501-7176 to schedule an appointment or to get more information.
- Saturday Movies: Saturday Movies at the COA at 12:15 pm! Check out the monthly COA Newsletter or call the COA at 781-275-6825 to see which movies are being played that month.
- Medicare Counseling: Minuteman SHINE counselors are available to provide assistance to seniors and individuals with disabilities in understanding their Medicare and MassHealth benefits and other health insurance options. Call the COA at 781-275-6825 for an email/phone appointment.
- Veterans Services: The Lexington / Bedford Veterans Services Department provides information regarding federal, state and local resources and benefits for Veterans. Please call Gina Rada, District Director of Veterans Services at 781-698-4848.
- Pickleball: Please visit the Places2Play website for the latest updates on this growing and popular sport in Bedford. Select MA for state and the list is alphabetical by town.
