What is Summer Adventures?                 

Summer Adventures has been a Bedford tradition since 1975.  Operated by the Bedford Recreation Department, Summer Adventures is designed to provide children with a safe and fun summer experience where they can make lifelong memories. Summer Adventures offers a wide variety of activities and there is something for everyone! We hope that your child will join us for an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, fun and adventure. Whether it's making new friends, trying new activities, or doing something they already love, Summer Adventures promises to create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Inclusion Support

If your child needs a little extra support to participate in Summer Adventures, inclusion support may be available. We realize that every situation is unique and we are happy to explore opportunities that may exist for inclusion. Please let us know how we may support your child by completing the Inclusion Questionnaire. Typically, a meeting (phone, Zoom, or in person) will be scheduled with Ben Richter (SA Director) or Alex Plodzik, CTRS (Therapeutic Rec Specialist) or Angelina Shinas (Therapeutic Rec Aide) once a questionnaire has been submitted.

Refund Policy

Notice must be given 10 business days' prior to program start for refund. If the required notice is given, refunds will be issued less 10% of the cost of the program.

Junior Adventures* (age 4 by 6/30/26 - Entering Kindergarten fall 2026) 

S1: $565, S2 & S3: $630

Summer Adventures (entering grades 1-4 fall 2026)

Senior Adventures (entering grade 5 fall 2026)

2026 Program Dates

Junior Adventures, Summer Adventures Grades 1 through 4, and Senior Adventures (gr5) are held in 2 Week Sessions:

• Session 1: June 29 through July 10 (not held on 7/3)
• Session 2: July 13 through July 24 
• Session 3: July 27 through August 7

Adventures Away (entering grades 6-8) is held in 1 Week Sessions:

• Week 1: June 30 through July 2 (not held on 7/3)
• Week 2: July 6 through July 10
• Week 3: July 13 through July 17
• Week 4: July 20 through July 24
• Week 5: July 27 through July 31
• Week 6: August 3 through August 7

CIT Program

(entering grade 8 & 9 in Fall 2026)

• 2 Week Sessions (corresponding to Summer Adventures, Senior Adventures & Jr Adventures sessions)

Early Bird & Extended Day Care

Early Bird, consisting of supervised quiet games in the cafeteria or active games in the gym and runs from 8am- 9am.  S1-S3: $120/session

Extended Day consists of trips to Springs Brook Park and activities at BHS and runs from SA dismissal until 6:00pm. Pickup is 5:00pm - 6:00pm at the town playground on Mudge Way (indoors at BHS if rainy). No Extended Day on August 7th.  EXTENDED DAY IS FOR GRADES 1-5 ONLY.                                                     S1: $240 (no 7/3), S2: $265, S3: $240 (no 8/7)

• Seeking responsible, enthusiastic individuals to join the team of our longstanding, popular Summer Adventures program.
• Pay rate based on experience, starting at $15/hour
