Bedford Social Services Department

The Town Social Workers are available to any Bedford resident, student of Bedford Public School, and/or anyone employed in the Town of Bedford. Social workers can help someone get connected to resources for a wide variety of issues including but not limited to:

  • Mental health
  • Substance addiction
  • Housing issues
  • Transportation issues
  • Food insecurity
  • Domestic violence

If you are a resident under the age of 60 you can contact Social Worker Christopher Bang in the Youth and Family Services Department at 781-918-4328.

Eliot Community Human Services

Eliot Community Human Services has licensed clinicians available by appointment to all Bedford residents and are trained to address a variety of mental health needs. Please note that Bedford residents do not pay a co-pay for therapy through Eliot and lack of insurance is not a barrier to services. The social workers can connect you to Eliot or you can reach them directly at 978-369-1113.

Bedford Public Schools Counseling Department

School counselors and social workers are available to connect with students to support their social-emotional needs and help address any questions and feelings of loss or confusion over recent events. Contact your child's school directly:

Advocates Psychiatric Emergency Service

The Advocates Psychiatric Emergency Service team is always available to offer skilled, compassionate support and connections to resources and services during difficult times. If you are experiencing mental health or emotional crisis, please call 800-640-5432 to speak to an Advocates crisis clinician. They are available to help 24 hours a day, every day.

Advocates Community Behavioral Health Center - NEW Resource in 2023!

Advocates Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) is a regional resource to assist with access and coordination of treatment and support when ou or a loved one are experiencing emotional, mental health, or substance use challenges. They provide routine appointments, same-day access for urgent issues, and 24/7 crisis intervention for people of all ages. CBHC services are also provided in community locations such as schools and homes.

Advocates is located at 675 Main Street, Waltham and can be reached at (781) 893-2003

Their routine and urgent service hours are: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Their crisis service hours are: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

INTERFACE Referral Service

INTERFACE Referral Service is an outpatient mental health resource and referral Helpline, open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 am-5 pm, and Tuesday and Thursday from 8am - 6pm, and available to Bedford residents and students of Bedford Public Schools. The Helpline can be reached at 888-244-6843 for resource information and/or outpatient mental health provider referrals from a trained resource and referral counselor.

Diaper & Personal Item Bank

In July of 2020 Bedford established a Diaper and Personal Item Bank in recognition that there are essential items that SNAP benefits do not cover.

If you are a Bedford Resident in need of:

  • Pull-Ups / Overnight Diapers
  • Baby Wipes
  • Pads / Tampons
  • Shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Tooth Paste

Bedford Food Bank

To assist and support Bedford residents in need, the Town of Bedford provides an ongoing Food Bank service. The Food Bank is run by the Department of Health and Human Services and operates out of the Town Center Building (yellow building behind Town Hall) at 12 Mudge Way on the Town Campus every Thursday from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.
