The Bedford TBRA Rental Assistance Program is a federally funded rental subsidy program designed to provide longer-term housing affordability for low- and moderate-income households. This program is funded through the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program and operates in accordance with HUD regulations at 24 CFR 92.209. 

Program Overview

Provides a rental subsidy equal to the difference between total rent (including utilities) and 30% of the household’s adjusted monthly income. Assistance is provided for up to 12 months. Payments are made directly to the landlord. Units must pass a HUD Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspection. A formal contract is executed between the Town and the landlord. 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must: Reside in Bedford. Have a current one-year lease for a Bedford rental unit. Have income at or below 60% of Area Median Income (AMI).

  • Be paying more than 30% of gross monthly income toward rent and utilities. 
  • Not own real estate. Meet HUD income and rent reasonableness standards. 
  • The maximum rent to be considered for benefit is the following: 

Studio - $2,316, 1 Bedroom - $2,646, 2 Bedroom - $2,977, 3 Bedroom - $3,440, 4 Bedroom - $3,837
